TCC SCHOLARSHIP
TCC Scholarship is scheduled for the Spring of 2023
In 2014, the Optimist Club of Fort Worth set out to reward a group of great students who at this point in their lives were undecided or not financially capable of attending a fully credited four-year college. So TCC and OCFW set out to award scholarships for students to attend any TCC campus for two years. This scholarship is funded through Christmas tree lot sales, other fund raisers and private donations to our organization. Last year, OCFW awarded 5 scholarships up to $1,000 each to qualifying students attending TCC in their first year. The Tarrant County College Foundation matched these scholarships to students attending TCC in their second year. Applications are now available and winners announced in May and presented at one of our noon luncheons.

ESSAY CONTEST
The Essay Contest is sponsored by Optimist International and the Optimist Club of Fort Worth to give young people the opportunity to write about their own opinions regarding the world in which they live. The approach can encompass a young person's personal experience, the experience of their country or a more historical perspective. In addition to developing skills for written expression, participants also have the opportunity to win a college scholarship. Young students today have so many fresh ideas about the world and their future. As Optimists, it is our goal to encourage them and do what we can to bring out the best in each of them. This gives them a wonderful opportunity to tap into their creativity and pursue possible scholarships and awards at the same time.
The guidelines (available through the Optimist International website) require that contestants be under age 19 and have not yet graduated from high school or the equivalent. Club winners advance to the district to compete for a $2,500 college scholarship. At the local level, awards are given for: First Place $1500, Second Place $1000, and Third Place $500.
THE DEADLINE TO APPLY IS FEBRUARY 8, 2023
